Electropolishing

FINISHING TECHNOLOGIES
This is the reverse of electroplating; material is removed from the surface of metal parts by electrochemical action to produce a bright and clean finish.

As well as polishing, this process cleans, degreases, deburrs, passivates and improves the corrosion resistance of metal surfaces.

Electropolishing has been steadily replacing more ecologically harmful processes such as chrome plating. This is driven by the industry's aim to reduce the consumption of chrome and other heavy metals (very toxic chromic acid is used for chrome plating).
